I first met Sarah and Lionel on their wedding day as they live in Paris and there was no way we could meet in person before the big day. On speaking with Sarah on the telephone months ago I knew this was going to be a wedding that I really wanted to be part of so I was thrilled when they booked me to be their photographer. Thank you so much Rebecca for the recommendation.
Sarah is a girl after my own heart, she wanted an organic rustic feel to her welsh wedding as as a new business selling vintage household items they were able to bring back a huge array of wonderful things to decorate their wedding with. Check out Manon and Rose on Instagram to see what goodies Sarah has on offer. I had a few favourite items.. the cake topper with the bride pulling back the groom looked amazing on the naked sponge and berry 3 tier cake by Ivy Cottage Cakes, and on the children’s table was a treasure trove including a giraffe, a vintage peacock, a mini eiffel tower, some funky 1970 paper weights and an awesome pin up girl ornament. If I was a guest at the wedding this is where I’d be wanting to sit!
There were wild flowers on every table.. and when I say wild I mean wild.. hand picked by the bride herself along the local kerbside, they looked magical and complimented her professionally made bouquet perfectly. There were garden games which being one of the hottest days this summer went down really well, everyone having a go at badminton, cricket and playing with balls. The confetti was lavender, which when thrown looked like it was raining, it was so pretty and the children loved it!
The best surprise for me (and Sarah’s dad) was the Bargoed Male Voice Choir who were breath taking. One of my favourite moments during their performance was watching Lionel working out which language they were singing when they sang Calon Lan.
There was no doubt that this was a family wedding and everyone’s needs were catered for. The couple organised for Stuart Watkins, magician to entertain the children in a cool room doing magic tricks and party games, there was even a ball pit and sift play. Amazing! Once the food was finished Stuart changed from his colourful coat and went into the main tent to work his magic around the tables. I followed him for a while and still can’t tell you how he did those tricks!
It was perfect in every way, especially Sarah’s dress.. one word. Stunning.
