Noah's Newborn Photoshoot

Wow!! This was my MOST AMAZING newborn session to date. Sleepy baby, chilled out parents, awesome nursery and some wonderful creative ideas...

I had an email from Tammy-Jay requesting a newborn shoot for her new gorgeous baby Noah when she was about 32 weeks pregnant. She had seen some that I'd done some for her friend and had loved the images. Initially her request had me wondering if I could actually do it, you see her and her lovely husband Dan wanted images to show who they were as a couple, play tribute to loved and lost ones and a few lifestyle as well. In reality this meant setting up scenes to show Noah with granddad's cowboy items, some with their gorgeous dog, daddy's guitar, mummy & daddy's music interests (Dan plays in a band and Tammy-Jay sings). They were also Harry Potter crazy and had decorated the most beautiful themed nursery I have ever seen... seriously it was like walking into a gorgeous room I'd see on Pinterest! So it was only natural that they wanted images wth Harry Potter's wand, the sorting hat and some books... it was a LOT, especially for one sitting and one baby...

So I explained that babies have their own way of doing things and that we might not get it all done, which Tammy-Jay & Dan were fine with. I explained that newborn sessions can take unto 4 hours sometimes, because to do all those poses and scenes Noah had to be in a deep deep sleep, so we needed to account for lots of feeding, cuddling and changing breaks. I also explained that baby safety is my main priority and that if he didn't naturally go into any poses I wouldn't force it. This also meant that Tammy & Dan had to help me and support Noah during some poses... you see what you see below isn't always what actually happened. There is a fair bit of editing involved and photoshopping supporting hands out, which without would be potentially dangerous.. Noah was not left unattended whilst on the guitar and some other images as seen below..

So with a list of specific things that they wanted I was a little nervous, because I never know how a baby is going to be... sometimes they are wide awake throughout the whole session, they are all so different....

HOWEVER, Noah was unbelievable, he slept throughout the entire 4 hours (if it was a normal session I would have finished in 2 hours I'm sure), he had 2 feeding breaks and went straight back to sleep. Mum & Dad were awesome... great to work with, relaxed and fantastic natural new parents despite having about 2 hours sleep the night before (no wonder Noah slept straight through!).

The nursery was breathtaking and the ideas came from the incredibly talented Dan. They had found a crochet craft business on Etsy called LIGHTS CAMERA ACTION, by the talented Stephanie Miller, who hand made the sorting hat, stitch and the cowboy hat and booties.  Click on the link above to go straight to her Facebook page and HERE for her etsy shop. I'm quite excited because Stephanie is now making me some baby Christmas elf hats, some lovely newborn wraps and bonnets to match... watch this space ....

Anyway, enough talking... its all about the images, which I love so much.. though before I do go, a massive congratulations to you both Tammy-Jay & Dan, you have a beautiful baby boy and you've got this xx
